Airtable for Nonprofits review - 50% off the Team plan, if you qualify

What it is

Airtable is a database that behaves like a spreadsheet: part list, part relational database, part lightweight app builder, used for everything from program tracking to grant pipelines to volunteer rosters. For verified nonprofits it offers 50% off the Team plan, bringing it to about $12 per user per month (down from $24).

The honest math

Fifty percent off a genuinely capable tool is a real saving, and the discount persists on renewal. But $12 per user per month still adds up across a team, and Airtable’s free plan is enough for many small use cases, so run the numbers on how many paid seats you actually need before committing.

The catch: who is excluded

This is the reason for the amber rating. Airtable’s eligibility list is unusually broad in what it excludes: organizations engaged in political or lobbying activity, government offices, churches and religious organizations, hospitals and health insurers, and private or independent grant-making foundations are all ruled out. A large share of otherwise-legitimate nonprofits fall into one of those buckets. You apply directly to Airtable with your legal registration and IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter - despite widely repeated claims of a TechSoup route, the official process is in-house verification, usually within a couple of business days.

The honest take

Excellent tool, real discount, but check the exclusion list before you get your hopes up - and confirm the free plan will not do first. For eligible operations-heavy nonprofits it is a solid buy; for many others it is either off-limits or more than they need.
