What it is

GrantStation is a grant-research database with 150,000+ funder profiles spanning foundations, corporate givers, government programs, and - unusually - service clubs and giving circles like Rotary, Lions, and Kiwanis. That local-club coverage is its real differentiator; those small community funders rarely show up in the bigger databases.

The honest math

Pricing is where you have to be careful. GrantStation’s regular list price is around $699/yr, which is hard to justify for a small nonprofit. But it almost never sells at list: specials near $199/yr run regularly, and if you belong to a state or regional nonprofit association, member rates drop to roughly $139/yr. Same database, a fraction of the price. Only buy at a discounted or member rate.

Why the amber rating

The database is useful and the club-level coverage is genuinely handy, but the amber rating reflects value for a small nonprofit: at list price it is overpriced, and for occasional grant-seekers a free option may be enough.
